New Haven has been plagued with gunfire as the city recorded five shootings, including two that were fatal, since Friday, police said.

Four of the five shooting victims were individuals in their early 20s, including a 24-year-old man who was shot Friday near Kossuth Street and 20-year-old Mariyah Inthirath, of Bridgeport, who was killed near Sheffield Avenue Saturday evening.

“When we lose a life, or even when the tragedy of a shooting happened, it’s terrible, regardless of age,” New Haven Police Chief Renee Dominguez said at a news conference Tuesday afternoon. “We are honestly seeing the full range [of victims], however this weekend, it does seem that we’ve seen three or four young 20 year old’s involved.
