2 Connecticut state police troopers injured after car slams into cruiser on I-91 in Wethersfield

Two Connecticut State Police troopers were injured Friday afternoon when a car crashed into his cruiser that was stopped in the center shoulder behind a disabled vehicle on Interstate 91 southbound in Wethersfield.

The collision pushed the cruiser into the disabled vehicle and trainee Trooper Nicholas Terry, who suffered “moderate” but non-life-threatening injuries, according to state police. Terry was transported by ambulance to Hartford Hospital for treatment.

Terry and Trooper First Class Donald Stankosky initially stopped behind a disabled Geo Prizm on the left shoulder of the highway near Exit 25N just before 5 p.m.

While they were at the scene with the Prizm, a three-car crash occurred when an East Hartford woman was driving her Subaru Legacy too closely to the slowing car in front of her, according to a police report.
