1 person shot on Homestead Avenue as surge in gun violence continues in Hartford

Police are investigating another shooting in Hartford after a man was injured by gunfire Wednesday afternoon on Homestead Avenue.

The man was transported to nearby Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center but more information about the man’s condition was not immediately available.

Detectives were investigating the incident near the gas station and car wash near the intersection of Homestead and Woodland.

A rash of shootings with injuries since the beginning of September has police and local leaders trying to quell violence across the city. Police have responded to more than 40 shootings with injuries during that time, including three gun homicides and 10 double shootings, which is nearly triple the number of such incidents over the same period in any of the previous three years.
