OAKLAND – The season started with the Lakers hoping Luke Walton’s presence on the sideline would help his young players emulate what made the Golden State Warriors so great. Nearly six months later, the Lakers concluded the 2016-17 season with another reminder of how wide that gap remains.
The Lakers fell to the Golden State Warriors, 109-94, on Wednesday at Oracle Arena for all the expected reasons. Warriors forward Kevin Durant dominated in the post and from the perimeter to score a team-high 29 points on 11-of-16 shooting (5 for 7 from 3-point range). Though they shot only a combined 10 for 29 from the field, Steph Curry and Klay Thompson still combined for 32 points.
