UCLA's TJ Leaf gives Bruins a scare, but Washington does not

LOS ANGELES – All that stood between UCLA and the postseason were a pair of teams it defeated on the road by an average of 28 points earlier this season.

Now a much larger obstacle looms.

With the projected No. 1 pick in the NBA draft out for Washington, third-ranked UCLA breezed past the Huskies, 98-66, Wednesday night at Pauley Pavilion.

Less than five minutes into the game, though, the focus shifted to the locker room, where Bruins leading scorer and rebounder TJ Leaf’s left ankle was under examination. The freshman forward rolled it at the 15:23 mark of the first half and didn’t return.
