UCLA's Myles Jack likes his linebacker job, inside and out

LOS ANGELES – Myles Jack’s debut at inside linebacker went off without a hitch in UCLA’s season opener, though he said the position switch was a little different.

Jack, who played outside linebacker his first two seasons, found himself inching much closer to the line of scrimmage Saturday to help defend against the run, rather than strictly playing off the edge to rush the quarterback or drop into coverage.

“I liked it; it was dirty in there; it was gritty,” Jack said. “I was in there, scrapping with the O-linemen.”

Jack finished with seven tackles against Virginia, just behind Eddie Vanderdoes’ team-high eight.
