UCLA still focused on stopping run

Even if there is a broken record playing in the background, Jim Mora isn’t hearing it. The concerns of a soft rushing defense that lingered from last season remain in the past, the UCLA coach said, even if those concerns still seem to be valid.

In their 42-21 victory over UNLV on Saturday at the Rose Bowl, the Bruins (1-1) allowed 175 rushing yards and 5 yards per rush attempt. The previous week, they allowed 203 rushing yards to Texas A&M.

“Every year’s a different year,” Mora said of whether the continued struggle to stop the run is a concern.
