LOS ANGELES – In UCLA’s rotating cast of running backs, a few young guns made a case last week for more time in the spotlight.
After reviewing the tape from UCLA’s win over Oregon State, offensive coordinator Kennedy Polamalu was most impressed with true freshman running backs Jalen Starks and Brandon Stephens as well as sophomore Bolu Olorunfunmi.
Coach Jim Mora said UCLA’s five running backs got roughly the same amount of plays against Oregon State, but carries were mostly dependent on play calls or what the defense showed.
Starks led with 10 carries for 29 yards and two touchdowns.
