SAN BERNARDINO – A protein shake a day didn’t make the hurt go away for UCLA.
Instead, the Bruins hope their intense offseason workout regimen of lift, run, recover, repeat will do the trick this fall. They guzzled protein shakes, reached personal bests in the weight room and tipped the scales to forget about their bowl disappointment against Nebraska.
“We ended with a bad taste in our mouths,” linebacker Kenny Young said. “We didn’t want to lose in that bowl game. We knew for sure that we shouldn’t have lost that game. Everyone did a little bit extra to get to where we need to be.
