UCLA gets NCAA tourney's top overall seed; Fullerton opens against Pepperdine

Shortstop Kevin Kramer and UCLA received the No. 1 overall seed for the 64-team NCAA baseball tournament that begins later this week and could end up facing rival USC in a best-of-3 super regional if both teams survive their respective regionals this weekend.

LOS ANGELES – There was little suspense on Monday morning when the UCLA baseball team gathered inside the clubhouse at Jackie Robinson Stadium to watch the NCAA Tournament selection show.

As the players sat, cramped in front of a 20-inch television set atop one corner of the locker room, they knew what was coming.
