Chief operating officer Kerry Kenny, commissioner Tony Petitti, and Ohio State athletics director Gene Smith went on B1G Live with Big Ten Network hosts Howard Griffth and Mike Hall and announced the 2024 Big Ten football schedule.
The announcement came with a different method of scheduling for the 2024 season. With a flexible and protected rival(s) format, each school like UCLA will have a different number of annual opponents. Teams like the Bruins are going to play between one and three permanent opponents each year to help protect traditional rivalries like the one with crosstown rival USC. Starting in 2024, this ends the East-West divisional format.
