The UCLA Bruins defense started off giving up a field goal on Stanford’s first drive, then the offense made up for it, putting up two touchdowns off of Kyle Phillips’s catches. Unfortunately, the Cardinal got seven easy points off a blocked punt at the end of the first quarter, making the score 14-10.
Through the second quarter, the defense was able to notch five sacks and hold the line to keep UCLA in the game, after totalling only three sacks in all previous games combined. With about five and a half minutes remaining, UCLA quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson fooled the Stanford defense and scored on a quarterback keeper, bringing the total to 21-10.
