SAN BERNARDINO – Noel Mazzone stepped in front of a makeshift podium after UCLA’s second practice of training camp and looked ready to deliver his lines.
Asked if the Bruins had settled on a starting quarterback, he began by giving an impromptu weather report.
“It’s 91 degrees, 15 percent humidity,” the offensive coordinator said with a smile.
Asked if they were at least closer to naming a starter, Mazzone smiled again.
“Two practices closer,” he quipped.
There was no change in the status of the ongoing search to replace record-setting three-year starter Brett Hundley, now in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers.
