LOS ANGELES – Takkarist McKinley’s life is about to change. There will be draft workouts, draft interviews and then a draft party somewhere. Before those things, he’ll return to where it all started.
The UCLA defensive end is coming home to close this chapter of his playing career before he starts the next one. The Richmond native will come back to the Bay Area on Saturday to play likely his last game in a Bruin uniform against California, the team whose uniform he almost wore.
When he thinks of his past, he thinks of his family, his friends – the real ones, not the “snakes” just trying to latch onto his newfound success – and the tattoo on his forearm.
