During this week’s press conferences, Chip Kelly was swamped, and rightly so, with questions about last Saturday’s 67-63 shootout with the Washington State Cougars.
Kelly, however, was demur in his responses, not eager to celebrate what was ultimately just one win in a season of struggles and mishaps. Instead, Kelly emphasized the week-to-week preparation, regardless of outcome:
Last week’s game doesn’t have any bearing on this week’s game, and that’s what I think our players have to understand. We played well last Saturday because we practiced well during the week. So, that’s the real correlation that we’re trying to hit home with our players.
