Northwood Elementary in Irvine on lock-down after phone threat

IRVINE Northwood High School went on lockdown around 1:40 p.m. today following a phone threat.

The lockdown means that instruction can continue, but students and teachers are to remain locked in their classrooms until Irvine police give the campus the green light.

“The lockdown was ordered out of an abundance of caution so the police can conduct its investigation,” said Annie Brown, a spokeswoman for the Irvine Unified School District.

No further details were available.

Northwood High School, 4515 Portola Parkway, has about 2,000 students, Brown said.
