Mora says Pac-12 officials were off target on a couple of plays during Hawaii game

coach Jim Mora said Monday that the Pac-12 Conference would issue a statement addressing the lack of a targeting call on a play in which Bruins linebacker Kenny Young suffered head trauma.

Young departed UCLA’s 56-23 victory over Hawaii in the first quarter Saturday at the Rose Bowl after absorbing the hit from Hawaii tight end Metuisela Unga. Pac-12 officials working the game did not call a penalty on Unga even though replays appeared to show direct helmet-to-helmet contact, and a replay booth authorized to make targeting calls did not intervene.

A Pac-12 spokesman did not immediately respond to an email inquiring about a statement regarding the call.
