Mission Viejo’s Camryn Ybarra strives for perfection

Baseball was in Troy Ybarra’s bones. He played at Costa Mesa High School and UC Irvine, earning a spot in A-ball with the Chicago White Sox organization.

He also had five daughters.

Well, in 1999, he and his family moved to Mission Viejo, before his fifth was to be born. This one would be named Camryn Ybarra. He intended to help out Mission Viejo High School’s baseball program.

His wife, Candace, paused. “Baseball?” she said, smiling. “You’ve got five daughters, why don’t you look into softball?”

Softball? Candace might have asked him to become a chef.
