It’s official: The NWSL has approved a new expansion team based in Los Angeles. Great news, and yet, that’s not even the best part.
The investor group behind the new team, dubbed Angel City, is headed by a majority women-founded group and includes UCLA’s own Lauren Holiday, who is a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist and former UCLA Bruins soccer star.
Holiday also made positive waves this month when it was announced her and husband, Jrue Holiday, were set to donate his game checks for the remainder of the NBA season to charity.
