Thus far, the best days of UCLA’s season were the first ones.
Before the Bruins stumbled to a 3-5 record (1-4 Pac-12) heading into this weekend’s open date, images of a national championship trophy flashed in Josh Rosen’s mind on the same August day the star quarterback graced the cover of Sports Illustrated. That was the opening day of training camp.
Three months, two quarterbacks and five losses later, the Bruins can’t even imagine a shot at Pac-12 championship anymore let alone a national title. A small consolation of a season that dramatically veered off course is an outside chance at a minor bowl game for a team that was the preseason favorite to win the Pac-12 South.
