LOS ANGELES – Four games into conference play, the UCLA basketball team has already won more games than it did all of last season.
The Bruins’ 89-75 win over Stanford on Sunday in front of 13,659 at Pauley Pavilion was their 16th victory in 17 games.
The last time UCLA played Stanford, it was stuck on 15 victories – in late February of last year. The Bruins’ fourth loss to Stanford in the teams’ previous 22 meetings was part of a five-game losing streak to end the program’s fourth losing season in the last 68 years.
Look no farther than freshman Lonzo Ball and TJ Leaf combining for 36 points, 16 rebounds and 14 assists for evidence of how far away last season feels.
