CHICAGO – The waiting is the hardest part – but there might not be that much more of it for Julio Urias.
The Dodgers’ handle-with-care young left-hander made his 2017 season debut Monday afternoon for Triple-A Oklahoma City. In a ragged outing, Urias allowed two runs in 3-2/3 innings, walking four and throwing a wild pitch but striking out five.
The most important number from the outing though was 79 – Urias’ surprisingly high pitch count.
“He wasn’t efficient apparently,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said with a smile calling the pitch count “substantial” for 3-2/3 innings.
