Brandon McCarthy, Dodgers bullpen blank Cubs, 2-0

CHICAGO – Unlike the Chicago Cubs, there wasn’t much worth remembering or re-living about Brandon McCarthy’s 2016 season.

But McCarthy turned in a performance worth remembering Wednesday night – one of his best since signing with the Dodgers before the 2015 season and certainly since he returned from Tommy John surgery last summer. He held the Cubs scoreless on four hits through six innings in a 2-0 Dodgers victory on the night the Cubs received their World Series rings.

McCarthy got the win over Cubs starter John Lackey. But he didn’t necessarily outpitch him.

Lackey gave up a leadoff home run to Andrew Toles and allowed three more hits while walking two in the first two innings.
