On first glance, Saturday’s game between UCLA and California doesn’t appear to have much at stake. Both teams have been out of the conference race for weeks and they’re both guaranteed to finish the season with a losing record.
Pride is on the line, of course, but so is a potential opportunity to go to a bowl game -- especially for UCLA.
Here’s why:
There will be 80 teams that participate in bowls this season and, currently, there are 66 teams that have won the six games needed to qualify. This, obviously, leaves 14 spots that still need to be filled in the next two weeks.
