So, when he found himself out of work this winter after eight seasons at Auburn, it didn’t take long for the 55-year-old Malzahn to realize he wanted to get back on the sidelines. He wanted to be around the players, he wanted to be calling the plays and he wanted to return to the game that had been a part of his life for more than three decades.
