As rivalry games go, the in-state matchup behind UCF and FIU might rank somewhere behind the "Civil Conflict" these days.
The Knights destroyed the Panthers during their last meeting, a 38-0 shutout in 2013. FIU is working to rebuild on and off the field after firing former coach Mario Cristobal.
But when the two Florida teams meet up at 6 p.m. Thursday in Orlando, there will be a little extra pride on the line for South Florida athletes on both teams. It will be the start of a three-year series, with the teams also set to face off in 2016 and 2017.
