UCF uses surprise bye to prepare for key homecoming game against Temple

UCF football coaches and players made the best of a botched bye weekend forced by Hurricane Matthew.

Under normal circumstances, players have more time to prepare for weekend trips home and coaches hit the recruiting trail to prepare for the next year's class. Instead, coaches stayed home with their families and players holed up at their dorms to ride out a hurricane that pushed the Knights' home contest against Tulane back to Nov. 5.

"I don't know about where y'all were, but in the towers you really didn't have to look out the window to know the wind was blowing," UCF defensive lineman Jamiyus Pittman said.
