Mohajir replaces Danny White, who left to become the athletics director at Tennessee on Jan. 22. Mohajir’s immediate challenge is hiring a new football coach after White selected the Knights’ Josh Heupel to become the Volunteers’ new coach on Jan. 27.
Mohajir’s salary in 2019-20 was $450,000 while White was paid $1.08 million before he left Orlando. Mohajir’s current contract with Arkansas State runs through 2023.
Mohajir returned to his alma mater in 2012 to lead the Arkansas State athletics department after time at both Kansas and FAU. During 12 years at Arkansas State, he’s helped guide the Red Wolves to 25 conference championships in a variety of sports, including football (2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016), men’s basketball (2013) and women’s basketball (2014, 2016).
