Knights safety Drico Johnson was ejected from UCF's 45-30 loss to Tulsa in the first quarter after officials charged him with a targeting penalty against receiver Conner Floyd.
Since the penalty call was made during the first half, Johnson will be eligible to compete in the Knights Nov. 19 contest against East Carolina. The call was somewhat questionable because Johnson didn't appear to launch his feet from the ground.
"Disagree, totally disagree," UCF interim coach Danny Barrett said. "We lose one of our starters. . . . I thought [he hit] his shoulder, but they said it was above the head, so they made the call.
