New UCF coach Gus Malzahn is adding a veteran presence to his new coaching staff, hiring David Gibbs as co-defensive coordinator and Herb Hand as offensive line coach.
Gibbs, 53, has 25 years of coaching experience under his belt, including as defensive coordinator at Minnesota, Auburn, Houston and Texas Tech. He most recently was the cornerbacks coach at Missouri. Gibbs also spent significant time in the NFL as an assistant coach with the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans.
Hand, 53, spent two seasons as the offensive line coach with the Tigers as part of Malzahn’s staff from 2016-17.
