The pace was as fast and furious as promised by UCF football coaches during the annual Black and Gold game that drew a record announced attendance of 23,147 fans.

But the production was a little more furious as defense managed to steal the spotlight during the Gold team's 21-10 win Saturday night. It was the official unveiling of the Knights' new "Oregon East" system curated by first-year coach Scott Frost.

Although the school did not publicly release any official statistics, the defense racked up 11 sacks by halftime. Shaquem Griffin earned two in the second quarter alone, while his brother, Shaquill, recorded one of three of the defense's sacks in the first quarter.
