Kentucky quarterback transfer Joey Gatewood has received a waiver from the NCAA for immediate eligibility to play this season at UCF, a team source told the Orlando Sentinel Friday night.
Gatewood, who will wear the No. 7 for the Knights according to the team’s online roster, enrolled at UCF this past Monday after announcing his decision to transfer to the Orlando school last weekend.
UCF head coach Gus Malzahn, who originally coached Gatewood at Auburn in 2018 and 2019, called the quarterback “extremely talented,” this week.
“First of all, Joey is an excellent human being,” Malzahn said about Gatewood.
