The Florida Gators were intrigued by new UCF football coach Scott Frost before they hired Jim McElwain a year ago.
Multi-millionaire comedian Larry the Cable Guy — a generous donor of the Nebraska Cornhuskers — says Husker Nation was more than just intrigued with Frost; they were distraught when the Knights hired him. Frost, of course, is a former Nebraska quarterback who led the Big Red to the 1997 national championship.
"I know when he accepted the head-coaching position at UCF, there were a lot of upset [Huskers,]" says Larry, also known as Dan Whitney, who was in town during the past week playing in the Diamond Resorts Invitational celebrity golf tournament.
