After weeks of discussion, rumors and reports, a move that UCF has been waiting for is official: the Knights have been invited to join the Big 12 conference, the Power Five league announced Friday.
The Big 12 Conference Board of Directors this morning voted to extend membership invitations to BYU, UCF, the University of Cincinnati and the University of Houston to join the conference, according to a league press release.
The vote was completed in accordance with Big 12 Conference Bylaw 1.5.2.b.3 requiring an affirmative vote of a supermajority of directors and was approved unanimously by the eight continuing members, Texas Tech, Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State, West Virginia, Oklahoma State, Iowa State and TCU.
