BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A special reunion took place Monday at UAB Hospital.
A lung transplant recipient was reunited with the doctor who performed her surgery 22 years ago Monday.
Janice Gravette was transplanted with a single right lung on February 22, 1994.
She credits her doctor and her lung donor’s family with saving her life.
“I think donor families are the most generous people because at a time when they should only be thinking about their own grief, and their own experience, they are making decisions that have the potential to spare several other families the grief they’re going through,” said Janice Gravette, lung transplant recipient.
