Tulsa’s Collins Named The American’s Defensive Player of the Week for Second Time This Year

IRVING, Texas –– The University of Tulsa linebacker Zaven Collins was named the American Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced today.

Collins, a 6'4" junior from Hominy, Okla., led a Tulsa defense that held the USF Bulls to just 13 points and 305 total yards in a 42-13 Hurricane victory in Tampa, Florida, on Friday night.

Collins totaled 6 tackles, including 5 solos, forced one fumble and returned an interception for a touchdown. He stopped a USF drive deep in Tulsa territory when he caused a fumble at Tulsa's 6-yard line with 0:50 left before halftime.
