MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The University of Tulsa Women's Tennis team had a strong showing on the opening day of the ITA Regionals on Thursday, grabbing three victories while dropping just two sets during their winning matches.
Nine-seed Rongrong Leenabanchong put in a dominant performance in her opening match against Nebraska-Omaha's Janelle Wilson, coming away with a convincing 6-0, 6-0 win. Leenabanchong will play her round of 64 match at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow morning.
Vera Ploner followed with a shutout of her own during her first match of the weekend, defeating Maria Velazco of South Dakota State in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.
