The Hurricane (19-13, 8-12 The American) fell behind by two sets heading into the break, eventually taking the third set while holding a lead down the stretch in the fourth set before the third-place Owls (22-8, 15-5 The American) used a late push to secure the match.
Tulsa got production across the board from their attackers as Erica Bohannon led the way with 16 kills while Emily Thorson tied her season-high with 12.
