WICHITA, Kan. — Redshirt-sophomore Carsyn Spurgeon won her first conference long jump title on Saturday, leaping a school record 6.30m/20-8 feet on her second attempt to clinch gold on the second day of the American Outdoor Championships.
Through the second day of the AAC Championships in Kansas, the Golden Hurricane men remain in a tie with Memphis for fifth overall with 21 points, while the women hold strong in fourth with 35 total points.
Spurgeon's victory marks the first outdoor field event gold for Tulsa since becoming a member of the American Athletic Conference, as well as the first Golden Hurricane woman to jump a wind-legal 20 feet in program history.
