Former University of Tulsa tennis athlete Marcelo Arevalo and his teammate Roberto Maytin advanced to the Main Draw of doubles competition at Wimbledon on Monday.
Arevalo, from El Salvador, and Maytin, from Venezuela, won their second round qualifying match against Rameez Junaid (Australia) and Austin Krajicek (USA) by a score of 6-3, 6-4 in a match that lasted 55 minutes. In first round action the team of Arevalo and Maytin defeated Yan Bai (China) and Dino Marcan (Croatia), 7-5, 6-4.
The duo will face the doubles team of Konstantin Kravhcuk (Russia) and Denys Molchanov (Ukraine) either Wednesday or Thursday in the Main Draw.
