NORMAN, Okla. - Sophomore Megan Hopton competed in the singles qualifying draw on day one of the 2019 ITA Central Regional Championships. The championships, which are being hosted by Oklahoma and played at the Headington Family Tennis Center, feature 30 teams from across the region.
Hopton (2-1) won her first round draw, defeating Oklahoma State's Ryan Thompson in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. She would go onto face Kansas City's Riddhi Sharma in the second round. Sharma won the opening set 6-0, but Hopton bounced back in the second set. She came from behind to win in a tiebreak, 7-6(1).
