It was November 2, 1991 and Tulsa was sitting at 5-2 on the year with a win over #15 Texas A&M and a loss to #2 Miami. This game pitted the Golden Hurricane against another major college independent, Southern Miss. A victory against the Golden Eagles at Skelly Stadium would keep Tulsa's bowl hopes alive. At kickoff, it was cold, but there was no snow in sight, until the second half when the weather quickly changed.
