When transitioning into the American Athletic Conference on July 1, 2014, The University of Tulsa was leaving a league, Conference USA, where the Golden Hurricane had enjoyed tremendous success.
Tulsa had won a league-high 56 conference championships in nine years as a member of Conference USA. Hurricane teams have picked up where they left off after leaving C-USA. In its' two years as a member of The American, Tulsa has won nine conference crowns, the most combined for the last two years among league schools.
Tulsa has won conference titles in men's and women's cross country, men's soccer and women's tennis in each of its first two years in The American, and won the 2016 Softball Championship for its two-year total of nine championships.
