It may not be the glamorous position in college football as it has become in the NFL, but the tight end position will be instrumental in the success of the Tulsa offense. Tulsa tight ends accounted for only four receptions for the Hurricane in 2015, but that doesn't define the importance the position brings to the offensive unit.
"For what we do offensively, really our tight ends are key," said Head Coach Philip Montgomery. "They bring a level of toughness, a nastiness that you have to have to play this game."
"They're also going to be used in situations in the passing game and we expanded on that a little bit from last year.
