Wide receiver Willis steps up for Troy in bowl win

NEW ORLEANS – Troy already knew it was limited at receiver with seniors Emanuel Thompson and Clark Quisenberry and sophomore Tray Eafford out.

Part of the talk all week was how the Trojans would need Deondre Douglas and Damion Willis to get more reps and play more than usual.

That plan was squeezed even tighter when, on the game’s opening kickoff, Douglas rolled his ankle on the kick return team and he was lost for the game.

Quarterback Brandon Silvers turned to Willis, practically the last man standing, and said, “I’m coming to you, just do what you do.
