South Alabama and Troy face off for three games beginning Thursday at Troy's Riddle-Pace Field, and a lot more than in-state bragging rights are on the line.
The Jaguars currently sit at 17-9 in Sun Belt Conference play, good for second place in the East Division behind runaway champion Coastal Carolina (which is 21-6 and has already clinched the regular-season league title). The Trojans are 17-10 and in third place, one-half game ahead of Georgia Southern.
That extra half-game in the loss column South Alabama holds came courtesy of a March 25 rainout t Georgia State. Georgia Southern also had its April 7 date with Little Rock washed out.
