Brown's buyout clause is almost $3 million, according to the latest USA Today coaches' salary database.
In his third season as Troy's head coach, Brown is being paid $800,000 this year, up from a $660,000 base last year.
He has potential bonuses totaling $490,000 — and received $80,000 in bonuses last season after the Trojans went 10-3.
Brown ranks 85th on the list of 121 Division I-A coaches whose salary is listed.
