TROY – Troy’s Sun Belt Conference co-champions were well-represented when league honors were handed out Wednesday – including Neal Brown as the Coach of the Year and Marcus Jones as the Freshman of the Year.
The Trojans, who are preparing for the Dec. 16 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl against North Texas, have posted consecutive 10-win seasons under Brown, who is in his third season as the head coach.
Jones, a standout from Enterprise, set Troy, Sun Belt and NCAA records this season. He returned two kickoffs for touchdowns against Coastal Carolina and returned a kickoff 99 yards for a score and an interception 100 yards for another touchdown last Saturday against Arkansas State.
