Troy’s baseball season concludes after Duke, Georgia erase deficits to eliminate Trojans

The Trojans led homestanding Georgia by three runs and Duke by four, but the Bulldogs rallied for an 11-7 victory and the Blue Devils came back for a 15-6 win in the Athens Regional Sunday. The losses ended the Trojans’ season with a 42-21 record and the program’s first postseason berth since 2013.

“We did not pitch well out of the (bullpen) in today particular,” Trojans head coach Mark Smartt said. “We didn’t execute that well. We were behind (in the count) all night. We’ve been good in the bullpen most of the year – just wasn’t their night tonight.
