Troy WR Willis emerging as threat thanks to extra work

TROY – Troy’s vaunted passing game already had some bite heading into this year, but a new Trojan wide receiver may make it downright lethal.

In an otherwise lackluster scrimmage Friday, junior college transfer Damion Willis continued to have a fall camp filled with big plays – fueling one of the few touchdown drives with two big catches. Willis, East Mississippi Community College’s most productive receiver last year, has emerged as a go-to target for quarterback Brandon Silvers despite not catching a pass from the senior until this summer.

Willis said once Silvers returned from a hand injury that kept him out of spring practices, the duo went to work on developing a connection.
